At Burj Dubai's completion, it would be substantially higher than Taiwan's 1667ft tall (508m) Taipei 101, opened on 2004, and which held the world's tallest building in terms of the "height to architectural top."

It was said that Emaar Properties, the developer, has planned several height modifications for the Burj Dubai since its inception and is now believed to be 2684ft tall (818m).
