Alchemy: Free Design Software

cleric2_Alchemy.pngI found another nice free design software that is both interesting and fun to use.  It's called Alchemy.  This design software, unlike the other design software, is used as an initial process in creating ideas, design and artworks.  What you see on the right is an example of what you normally get when you use Alchemy.

Others call this creating artwork from Chaos.  Every artist that uses this software involves themselves in finding shapes and form in the chaos they create in Alchemy.  It's a continuous process of putting shapes on top of each other until a visual inspiration and interpretation pops up from the chaos that is created.

Watch a sample by David Revoy how alchemy was used to create a beautiful digital artwork using Alchemy to start of the creative process.

Digital painting time-lapse : Lezard from David REVOY on Vimeo.

As you have watched on the video above, David Revoy used free downloadable softwares for the whole art and design process.  These are Alchemy, GIMP, and MyPaint.  This just shows you that you don't need expensive software to make awesome artworks just like what you've seen above.

If you are interested in trying out Alchemy, check out their website to download the software.  It's free!

The image below is a visual interpretation of the image on the top of this post done that was done in Alchemy.  This is from the gallery of the Alchemy website.
