electrolux kitchen hideaway 01.jpgElectrolux, a provider of major home appliances, has organized a design competition for the year 2010.  The Electrolux Design Lab 2010, a worldwide competition, focuses on the future living conditions where more people are predicted to be living in compact spaces in an urban environment setting.  The industrial design students who were to compete were briefed on designing solutions for people living in the year 2050.

The competition is nearing its end and a winner is gonna be selected on the 23rd of September this year.  Out of the many entries that were passed, eight were chosen to compete for the final selection and a chance to win the Electrolux Design Lab 2010.  The eight entries will present their designs to four of the well respected designers of this time on the 23rd of September, at 100% Design, Earls Court, London.

I shall present all the eight finalists, one per day starting with "The Kitchen Hideaway".

The Kitchen Hideaway

The Kitchen Hideaway by Daniel Dobrogorsky from Australia is a virtual reailty design concept where in the inhabitants of a building uses this device to make themselves food.  It actually creates a virtual kitchen wherein the user imagines the food he wants to eat.  The thoughts created by the headset are then transmitted to robotic chefs that will then prepare the real food with the exact ingredients the user thought of and then deliver it to him or her when it is done.  The headset then would replace any kitchen appliances and equipment thus saving more space.

Below are images of the design concept:
