This portable compact dishwasher is one of the eight finalists in the Electrolux Designlab 2010 competition. The competition focuses on the living conditions of people in the year 2050, when it is predicted that a greater population would be living in compact spaces in an urban environment setting. The winner would be announced by the 23rd of September 2010.
This portable compact dishwasher called the Eco Cleaner is designed by Ahi Andy Mohsen from Iran. He designed this having in mind that future food might be supplied in capsule form thus a smaller size of containers to eat from and that household chores might be reduced due to the technology of that time.
The Eco Cleaner runs by releasing ultrasonic waves to ionise the food and to turn it to compost or reusable waste. Dishes are kept sterilized while inside the cleaner.
