The Y Buildings, designed by Paul Kaloustian Architects, are located in the district of Ashrafieh, Beirut, Lebanon. A very modern looking and attractive building, the Y Buildings stand like an art piece in the contemporary world.
The Y Buildings project consists of two buildings, one which consists of office spaces and built along the main boulevard where all commercial buildings are located, while the other is a residential building built along a quieter residential street.
What makes these buildings attractive for me is the overall look of the structures. The floors are circular in plan and by stacking each floor in what seems to be a random positioning order, it creates sort of a sculptural art piece.
The skin of the buildings are all glass to allow the maximum amount of natural light inside the buildings. Interior skin of adjustable wooden panels for the residential and sunscreen for the offices provide the necessary privacy and sun protection of the users. An interchanging and random positioning of the interior sun shading also adds up to the interesting look of the buildings.

Because of the random sizes of each floor, tenants may choose from 300 square meters to 800 square meters of floor area.
