Designer IDEO in partner with the Spanish Bank BBVA have redesigned and redeveloped a new system of automated and self service banking. The designers focused less on making the unit more automated but rather they focused more on making it more human. They listened to a lot of people over their experiences of using the ATM and based their design concepts on those. Now, after spending over 2 years of research and development, this new ATM is ready for use.
The new ATM design is now rotated 90 degrees from where it was before, making the user feel more safe and their transactions more private.
A lot of the functionality of the old ATM machines were also refurbished and made streamlined. One feature that you'll notice at once is the large 19 inches touch screen. This gets rid of the muscle driven push buttons.
Now, over 100 units of these ATMs have already been installed all over BBVA bank's branches. Maybe in the near future, we'll be seeing more of these on other banks all over the world as well.
