BoConcept Looks Back To Where It Started
From design to finish, a piece of furniture is like a looking glass that delves into the lifestyle of the people it was made for. For 60 years Boconcept has done exactly that - recognizing the role of furniture in our domestic environment and the way we live in it.
This September, Boconcept marks its 60th anniversary, and what better way to pay homage to its roots by launching SIXTY, the brand's anniversary book which serves as the brand patron's vehicle into the past. The book recaps the highlights of the company's illustrious history from their promising beginnings in 1952 to their current success of an awarded brand, with 250 mega stores in major capitals and cities around the world. Boconcept certainly makes it clear that they are not just another furniture brand, but theirs is company where success is defined in each design piece that has a story and a commitment to its danish heritage.
This year's anniversary celebration also sees the launch of Boconcept's 2013 collection. It is an encapsulation of the trends that dominated the 50's and 60's, with scenes from the popular TV series, 'Mad Men' serving as an epitome of inspiration.
The perfect juxtaposition of vintage and contemporary is evident in the 2013 collection with the presentation of 3 new collections by bestselling designer, Anders Norgaard, with the Bergen Sofa, The Fargo Sofa concept, and the Ogi Chair.
Boconcept also delves deeper into the era of Danish modern classics heritage with the revival of the 50's classic- the Klint fabric. Designed by the revered Danish textile designer and weaver, VibekeKlint, the textile is inspiring in its simplicity and timelessness, a true tribute to modernity.
Representing the three generations that have brought the company to where it is today, Kim Molholm, son of Boconcept's chairman, ViggoMolholm brings the celebration into full circle. He arrives to join the festivities in Manila where Boconcept has been established since 1996 (as one of the first few stores in Asia) to cater to the discerning and tasteful Filipino market. Kim Molholmwas based in New York, and has spent 10 years growing the highly successful US market for Boconcept. He is now based in Asia with his team to focus on the brand's rapid development in China, India and South East Asia.
