"Bird in Hand" looks what seems to be a group of paired hands each trying to copy a bird in flight. It is a sculptural pendant light designed by J.P.Meulendijks design studio, a company from the Netherlands.
The pendant lamp is made from a durable, fully compostable material composed of natural hemp-fibers, minerals and binders, developed by J.P. Meulendijks which they call ECOLOTEK.
The inspiration of the design of the "Bird in Hand" pendant lamp came from the old art of making hand shadows. Even before the invention of electrical devices and lamps, shadow art from hand gestures were made by placing their hands in front of candles or burning fireplaces and projecting those shadows to walls. One of the common hand shadows is the bird figure which became the main inspiration of the lamp's design.
