Architectural Visualization 3ds Max Tutorials #20: Modeling a Modern Furniture

When creating interior scenes, it is very important to have good, convincing furniture models. The way we look at the furniture and identify it as a believable piece is very subjective and has a lot to do with the relation of details such as stitches, rounded corners, piping, and a correct interpretation of how the different objects are put together. The objects can't simply go through each other. We have to think about issues such as whether they are welded, bolted, nailed, stitched, glued, etc. This will change the way we model and the amount of detail we will add. You will also find that the shape of the surfaces will give you visual tips of the material, not only the texture. The amount of curve to the fabric surface on an upholstered sofa tells us the amount of stiffness or softness. In this tutorial I'll cover some tips and techniques when modeling an organic, upholstered piece of furniture.

Architectural Visualization 3ds Max Tutorials #19: Homage to Sidonio Porto

homage-to-sidonio-porto.jpgArchitectural Visualization 3ds Max Tutorials #19: Homage to Sidonio Porto

Here's a very nice article of a 3d rendering done using Autocad for modeling and 3ds Max and Vray for the rendering part.  Marcelo Eder did a great job.

The idea behind the realization of this image has followed me since my college days, when I saw for the first time the work of the amazing Sidonio Porto, a renowned Brazilian architect. Unfortunately, it remained a mere dream...

Setting up a camera to match a photograph in 3D space can be a daunting task for anyone if you don't know how to go about it correctly. In this tutorial I will demonstrate a real simple way of matching a camera in 3D studio max to a photograph background for easy compositing.

Before going in to the tutorial I am going to assume to know the basics of Photoshop 3D Studio Max and Perspectives.

Amazing 3D CG Character Models

With the technology that is available today and the vast list of available 3d softwares available in the market, it is very possible to create realistic environments where our imagination is our only limit, creating creatures and objects that thrive in those computer generated surroundings.  Creating these 3d models and sculptures using the computer requires talent and skill.  It also involves practice and a lot of patience to further perfect the art.

Hongkiat created a list of 21 realistic 3d character models found on the net.  Below are 10 of the 3d CG (Computer Generated) Character Models from that list that really stood out for me.

Modelling:

I started to build it from some initial blueprints. I couldn't find much info on it except for a very basic-stage simple plan and section. Thanks to this, I was able to add a few personal details. The whole main structure and individual elements are mirrored by a central axis, so I centered the modeling around just one of the symmetries.

In this short tutorial I will show you a way of creating a carpet in 3ds max using vray fur. Before I begin, I need to say that you need to use vray fur ONLY when you absolutely need it (when the camera is really close to that specific object that the vray fur is applied to, or if you need to render at a very high resolution); if not using vray displacement is the way to go. If you decide that you need that you need a very high level of detail in your rendering, than be prepared for higher rendering times.

The Third & The Seventh by Alex Roman

Here is an amazing CG video created by Alex Roman, showing architecture in a very artistic way.  I am now a fan of his because of this work that he did.

Everything was produced by Alex Roman.  This includes the modeling, texturing, lighting and rendering, and the post production and music mixing.

I want to share my workflow in Creating A Water Fountain in 3dMax Particle System

1. Download the scene file scene_files.zip.

If you havent you can create your own model for the fountain source. Any model will do. To start set some 3d max parameters just like the following: set the units to meter, and the renderer to scan line ( for the meantime we will use scan line because we will do some series of test render.)

This is a basic tutorial of the Florence Design Academy to understand how to use the SPLINES effectively in the field of Interior/Furniture Design. This tutorial is based only on splines. It is very important that your chair has the correct dimensions, otherwise the rendering with Mental Ray will not be optimal. Let's begin our tutorial.
