Bird In Hand - A Sculptural Pendant Lamp

"Bird in Hand" looks what seems to be a group of paired hands each trying to copy a bird in flight.  It is a sculptural pendant light designed by J.P.Meulendijks design studio, a company from the Netherlands.

The pendant lamp is made from a durable, fully compostable material composed of natural hemp-fibers, minerals and binders, developed by J.P. Meulendijks which they call ECOLOTEK.

National Architecture Week in UP Diliman

The Architecture Student Council of UP Diliman, Philippines is inviting students from other architecture schools and colleges, architects, designers and others interested in the world of architecture to be part of the celebration of the National Architecture Week (NAW) 2012.

NAW is an annual tradition celebrating the architectural profession in the Philippines.  This year's celebration will be held from the 10th to the 14th of December at UP Diliman.

BoConcept Celebrates Its 60th Anniversary

BoConcept, a Danish Design furniture store is celebrating its 60th anniversary.

Since 1952, when two Danish craftsmen and cabinet makers, Jens Ærthøj and Tage Mølholm, started the company, BoConcept has been innovating and creating furniture that suits the needs of the urban users of its time.  It continued to grow, even expanding its reach worldwide, and eventually becoming one of the world's leaders of modern furniture design.

The BoConcept outlet here in the Philippines shall be celebrating the 60 years of its companies continued success and contribution to modern urban furniture design.  They shall be showcasing a preview of their collection for 2013 and the BoConcept book, Sixty.

Yep, you heard it right, it's really free.  Those professionals who have purchased AutoCAD know that the offline product is very expensive and not all people you coordinate your drawings with have access to this costly software.  So Autodesk, the company who is responsible for spreading the use of AutoCAD in the construction world, has made a solution.  They created an online AutoCAD application which anyone can easily access using a computer and an internet connection.

Bridging Solar and Wind Energy to the People

The ongoing quest of using alternative energy sources for electricity has already made it through the design, architecture and engineering community.  A lot of architectural and engineering designs nowadays are integrating the use of solar panelling and wind power in to the structure.  The bridge above is one of those.  Designed by Italian designers Francesco Colarossi, Giovanna Saracino and Luisa Saracino, this bridge promises to help power approximately 15,000 homes.

A Dutch-made paving machine has been created to lay out brick roads like magic.  Using it is like printing out stone roads or brick roads like paper.  The machine is called the Tiger-Stone.
