Modelling:

I started to build it from some initial blueprints. I couldn't find much info on it except for a very basic-stage simple plan and section. Thanks to this, I was able to add a few personal details. The whole main structure and individual elements are mirrored by a central axis, so I centered the modeling around just one of the symmetries.

The Third & The Seventh by Alex Roman

Here is an amazing CG video created by Alex Roman, showing architecture in a very artistic way.  I am now a fan of his because of this work that he did.

Everything was produced by Alex Roman.  This includes the modeling, texturing, lighting and rendering, and the post production and music mixing.

What is Architecture?

temple-architecture.jpgArchitecture is simply defined, in most English dictionaries, as 'the art and science of designing structures or buildings' but, as I found out working as a professional architect for some time, that architecture is broader than how it is simply defined.

Most people when they think of architecture would think of houses, buildings, architects working on drawings, structural columns and beams, mouldings, cornices and the like.  Well, that's what I also thought before of architecture when I was still a student, until I graduated and entered the real world and did real projects.  And then I got to see the other side of architecture and experience a deeper understanding of what my profession really is about.

I want to share my workflow in Creating A Water Fountain in 3dMax Particle System

1. Download the scene file scene_files.zip.

If you havent you can create your own model for the fountain source. Any model will do. To start set some 3d max parameters just like the following: set the units to meter, and the renderer to scan line ( for the meantime we will use scan line because we will do some series of test render.)

January 2010 Architecture Board Exam in 3 days

prc-and-uap-logo.jpgThe January 2010 Philippine Architecture Board Exam is getting closer by the minute and I am sure that the examinees are already feeling the pressure.  They will be the first batch of examinees here in the Philippines that will take the Licensure Examination for Architects (LEA) with the non-drafting format scheme.  The exam will already take place this coming friday and sunday - January 15 and 17, 2010.

Good luck to all of those who will take the exam.

To my friends and future architects - John Allan "Kamote" Vicmudo, William James "Chickboy" Boyco, and Michael "Big Mike" Cheng, who will also take the exam this week, good luck to all of you!  I'm sure you all will do well in the exam.  "Excited na ko sa pakain ninyo kapag arkitekto na kayong tatlo!"

Party after your exam!

Update:  See exam results here!

How to Renew Your PRC ID and Registration

prc-and-uap-logo.jpgIf you are a licensed Architect here in the Philippines, you'll eventually need to renew your PRC (Professional Regulation Commission) ID and Registration just like any other profession in the country.  This normally happens every three years on your birthday from your first registration with PRC.

Being registered in PRC means you are recognized as a professional which, in our case, as professional architects here in the Philippines.  This gives you the privilege to legally practice Architecture in the country.

So how do you renew you PRC ID and Registration?

It's really easy if you have the complete requirements.
