Bird In Hand - A Sculptural Pendant Lamp

"Bird in Hand" looks what seems to be a group of paired hands each trying to copy a bird in flight.  It is a sculptural pendant light designed by J.P.Meulendijks design studio, a company from the Netherlands.

The pendant lamp is made from a durable, fully compostable material composed of natural hemp-fibers, minerals and binders, developed by J.P. Meulendijks which they call ECOLOTEK.

Lock - Interlocked Bamboo Dinner Table

"Lock", a dinner table with what seems to look like interlocked wooden pieces as it legs, is designed by J.P. Meulendijks design studio from the Netherlands.

This is one of the design products under the Plankton label, a design group focusing on environmental, ecological and sustainable design.

Lock's design was inspired from the qualities, possibilities and characteristics of a highly sustainable material, the bamboo, which is also used as its main material.  The thick wood frame legs are made from pressed layers of flexible bamboo.

PSID Design Exhibits for PWDs and Elderly

To mark its 45th year of honing excellent Filipino interior designers, the Philippine School of Interior Design (PSID) mounts "Gabay: Dibuhong Umaakay", the graduation exhibit of the PSID Advanced Class of 2012, from Sept. 29 to Oct 31, at the former Super Sale Club, SM City North EDSA, North Ave. cor. EDSA, Quezon City.

BluPrint's 4th AViD Competition Extends Its Deadline

BluPrint, the premier design sourcebook in the Philippines, has extended its deadline for the Annual Visionary Design (AViD) Competition to September 30 to give a chance for more creative minds the chance to promote the Philippines through design.

BoConcept, a Danish Design furniture store is celebrating its 60th anniversary.

Since 1952, when two Danish craftsmen and cabinet makers, Jens Ærthøj and Tage Mølholm, started the company, BoConcept has been innovating and creating furniture that suits the needs of the urban users of its time.  It continued to grow, even expanding its reach worldwide, and eventually becoming one of the world's leaders of modern furniture design.

The BoConcept outlet here in the Philippines shall be celebrating the 60 years of its companies continued success and contribution to modern urban furniture design.  They shall be showcasing a preview of their collection for 2013 and the BoConcept book, Sixty.

Here's a nice treat to all architects, interior designers, industrial designers, engineers and other professional and technical persons who uses AutoCAD frequently in their line of work.  It's a free AutoCAD application you can use for free!

Yep, you heard it right, it's really free.  Those professionals who have purchased AutoCAD know that the offline product is very expensive and not all people you coordinate your drawings with have access to this costly software.  So Autodesk, the company who is responsible for spreading the use of AutoCAD in the construction world, has made a solution.  They created an online AutoCAD application which anyone can easily access using a computer and an internet connection.

Kitchen You Can Hide

Here's an innovative idea for a kitchen.  This system conceptualized by Theodore Thonga has sliding panels that hides or reveals the kitchen counter as you please.

As I know a lot of homeowners, especially old-fashioned mothers that doesn't want the kitchen to be seen from the public areas of the house because they say it's usually a mess, this system may impress them.  Although, as they are already old-fashioned, it may not impress them at all.  But who knows, when they see how this system can instantly hide the mess on their kitchen counter and create a cleaner look, maybe they'd love it and might even create an opening on the kitchen wall to the living areas.
