"The Snail" is one of the eight finalists in the Electrolux Designlab 2010 competition.  The competition focuses on the living conditions of people in the year 2050, when it is predicted that a greater population would be living in compact spaces in an urban environment setting. The winner would be announced by the 23rd of September 2010.

Remodeling your living room or kitchen or any other part of your house can mean another penny to spend. However, redecorating and remodeling don't necessarily entail high cost of materials and services from a trained person or professional. Buying new furniture is not important. All you need is to repaint and reuse materials.

Electrolux, a provider of major home appliances, has organized a design competition for the year 2010.  The Electrolux Design Lab 2010, a worldwide competition, focuses on the future living conditions where more people are predicted to be living in compact spaces in an urban environment setting.  The industrial design students who were to compete were briefed on designing solutions for people living in the year 2050.

The competition is nearing its end and a winner is gonna be selected on the 23rd of September this year.  Out of the many entries that were passed, eight were chosen to compete for the final selection and a chance to win the Electrolux Design Lab 2010.  The eight entries will present their designs to four of the well respected designers of this time on the 23rd of September, at 100% Design, Earls Court, London.

I shall present all the eight finalists, one per day starting with "The Kitchen Hideaway".

The World's Largest Clock finally ticks for the first time last wednesday August 11, 2010 to signal the first day of the fasting month before Ramadan in Saudi Arabia.

Located at the heart of Mecca, close to the Grand Mosque, the royal clock towers the entire city and is said to be seen as far as 19 miles.

How about an Alice in Wonderland inspired ring.  This is the creative work of H.Stern, a Brazilian jewelry brand, in partnership with Disney.  The ring is part of a collection of jewelry inspired by Tim Burton's movie "Alice in Wonderland".

There are five rings in the collection, including the strange mushrooms, the Cheshire cat, and the Jabberwocky.  Adorned with enamel, gold and diamonds, the Alice in Wonderland inspired rings are a luxury collection.

If you have ever tried chopping garlic and onions in your life, you would know that it's no longer fun when your eyes start to tear and your nose starts to twitch with irritation.  Luckily Jang Young Jin designed a wonderful product that would instantly chop garlic and onions easily and instantly.  He calls it the Garlizi.

Professional carpenter Dalton Ghetti has been creating this amazing works of art for the last 25 years.  As a side project, Dalton Ghetti skillfully carves and creates miniatures and micro sculptures on a tip of a graphite pencil.

Liquid Light, is an industrial light art design by Tanya Clarke, a talented Canadian artist and daughter to leading and political activist Tony Clarke.

Liquid light is basically composed of recycled industrial pipes and fittings and faucets attached with a nice looking  handcrafted glass drop design, lit by LEDs from the tip of the faucets.
